You are now about the size of a turnip at 5 inches long and weighting in at 5 ounces! Soon I'll be able to feel your kicks and punches- so exciting! I feel it now when you flip around and make big movements in there, but that's about it. We still dopple you everyday and your heart rate is always between 150 and 160.
At your 16 week appointment the doctor decided to do an extra ultrasound to make sure everything was still going well since we had a couple hiccups several weeks ago. Everything looked just perfect and we found out that you are a little GIRL!!!
We got to see you moving around in there, kicking your mom, covering your little ears with your hands, and trying to grab your feet :)Everyone was very excited to hear the news that we would be welcoming a daughter in August and it was great to finally be able to buy some gender specific things. My mom came up this weekend and we went shopping for some girly outfits. We only bought about one million precious onsies, sleepers, and rompers. It was a lot of fun and made us both even more excited for you to arrive.
We will see you again at 20 weeks for an anatomy scan (an ultrasound to make sure you are growing correctly and that you are a perfectly healthy baby girl) so we are looking forward to seeing you again in just three short weeks. Sadly that's the last scheduled ultrasound and after that, we will have to be very patient and wait the 20 long weeks to see you again when you join us for good!
I am feeling pretty well. My energy level is coming back, I can finally brush my teeth without getting sick, and I luckily haven't gained any weight! My only complaints at this point would be sciatica pain which showed up this week, and a new affinity for becoming short of breath just from walking around for a few minutes. My doctor says these things are totally normal for the second trimester, but they are still annoying. It will all be worth it, for sure!
We plan to start working on your nursery in the coming weeks and are looking forward to feathering our nest for your arrival!
Love,

enjoy the 2nd trimester, momma! I had that sciatica pain too...had to go see a chiropractor for the first time and she straightened me out after a few visits. Now the pain is just a long lost memory. Congrats again on the baby girl - they have the cutest clothes! And did you see the owl-theme set from Babies R Us for girls?! Cute!!!
