Your mom had a hard week this week. I woke up with hives all over my body, a swollen eye, and hands so swollen I could hardly use them! Pretty crazy. A trip to urgent care and a specialist appointment later we determined that it might be an allergic reaction, might be a pregnancy related autoimmune response, or it might have been a viral infection. Pretty scary for a pregnant lady. Fortunately we found out that it wasn't effecting you at all and you were doing just fine. Now if we could only get this swelling down so mom could be feeling well also.
Since you are doing so well in there and we are quickly getting through this first trimester, the doctor gave us the green light to start sharing our good news. She told us that the chance of anything happening at this point were very slim, and that in pregnancies with a strong heartbeat at 8 weeks (like you have) the chances of delivering a happy healthy baby at term are about 97%! We are so happy to be able to relax a little bit and mommy can finally stop holding her breath (good for both of us). We told some of our family on Christmas day, and are going to be telling the rest of the family this weekend when we are in Springfield. So exciting to be able to share our happiness. Everyone has been very excited and supportive so far and we can't wait to share this journey with everybody.
We will be seeing you again at the end of January at an ultrasound designed to rule out any health problems. Since our family history is clean, we don't suspect any problems and we are really just excited to be able to see you again. By then you will be the size of a peach and look a lot like a baby. Can't wait! See you then.
Love,
go baby go!
